Poloniex Hacking: Suspect's Identity Possibly Identified | Justin Sun's Final Ultimatum

Justin Sun Issues a Final Warning to the Hacker

On November 18, 2023, Justin Sun, owner of the cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex, issued a final ultimatum to the hacker involved in the hacking incident that occurred on the 10th of this month at Poloniex.

It has been reported that the hack resulted in the theft of over 100 million dollars' worth of cryptocurrencies.

In a post dated the 10th, Sun had proposed to the perpetrator, "If you return the stolen ETH, TRX, and BTC within 7 days, I will offer 5% of those assets as a reward."

However, there has been no sign of the funds being returned since then, and on the 18th, a further notification was made to the hacker through an on-chain message.

Perpetrator's Identity Identified, Involvement of US, Russian, and Chinese Police

In this message, Justin Sun stated, "We have already identified your identity," and mentioned that police from China, the United States, and Russia are involved in the case.

He also explained that "All the stolen funds have been marked for tracking, making it impossible for the stolen cryptocurrencies to be used, and the counterparties in transactions will also be frozen."

Having issued this warning, Justin Sun declared, "If you return the stolen cryptocurrencies by November 25, 2023, a $10 million White Hat reward will be offered."

He further warned, "If the cryptocurrencies are not returned by the deadline, police forces from multiple countries will take action."

Poloniex to Resume Deposits and Withdrawals This Week

Poloniex announced on November 17, 2023, that "The deposit and withdrawal services are scheduled to resume next week." The services will be reopened following a security check by the company's team.

It was also mentioned that all user deposit addresses will be updated after the service resumes.
