Solana Mobile's Upcoming Low-Cost Web3 Smartphone

Solana Mobile, known for its Web3 smartphone "Saga," is reportedly preparing to launch a second-generation cryptocurrency smartphone as a successor to Saga.

According to reports from cryptocurrency media outlet "CoinDesk," citing sources close to the matter, the next-generation smartphone will feature similar core functionalities as Saga, including a cryptocurrency wallet, custom Android software, and a dApp store.

However, the new model is expected to be priced lower than the Saga, with changes in the smartphone's hardware specifications.

Originally sold for about $1,000, the price of Saga was later reduced to $599 due to declining sales. After selling out in December last year, Saga units were increasingly resold on eBay, with some fetching prices as high as $5,000.

As of the time of writing, Saga smartphones are being resold on eBay for around $3,000. The official release of Solana Mobile's next-generation model could potentially calm the heated resale market of Saga units.

At the time of this article's publication, there has been no official statement from Solana Mobile regarding the next-generation device. CoinDesk also reported that they have not received comments from Solana Mobile representatives.

However, given the sustained demand for Saga, there is speculation that a new smartphone release is plausible. The tech community is eagerly awaiting official announcements and further reports on this development.
