Lufthansa Group Unveils NFT-Based Rewards

One of the parent companies of the world's largest airlines, the Lufthansa Group, announced today the commencement of an NFT-based loyalty program that offers passengers digital collectibles as rewards which can unlock additional perks.

The entirety of the Group's airlines (including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Swiss International Air Lines) are participating in the Uptrip loyalty program.

This program allows passengers to collect digital trading cards whenever they fly with any of these airlines.

These cards are themed based on specific destinations, aircraft used by the airline fleets, and even specific holidays.

Unlocking Benefits with Digital Collectibles

By collecting all the cards required for a specific theme within Uptrip, users can unlock exclusive airline perks.

These range from complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi, access to airport lounges, to redeeming air miles.

Uptrip also plans to introduce a trading feature to help users complete their collections.

Emerging from the Lufthansa Innovation Group, Uptrip is built on Polygon, a scaling network for Ethereum.

Having been soft-launched previously, Uptrip was tested by over 20,000 users, and according to the company, more than 200,000 digital trading cards have been collected in total.
