Lisk (LSK) Announces Massive "HodlerDrop" Airdrop Event with a Transition to Layer 2

Discover how you can participate in the Lisk "HodlerDrop" airdrop, designed to reward community members as Lisk transitions to Layer 2.

Learn about the steps required to maximize your airdrop benefits and stay tuned for future airdrop events like DevDrop and UserDrop.

Introduction to the Lisk HodlerDrop Airdrop

Lisk (LSK) has announced that it will implement an airdrop event called "HodlerDrop" on May 7, 2024, as part of its transition to a Layer 2 (L2) architecture.

Originally a Layer 1 blockchain project, Lisk revealed plans in December 2023 to transition to Ethereum's Layer 2. The HodlerDrop aims to reward the Lisk community by distributing a total of 15 million LSK in stages.

Eligibility and Participation in the HodlerDrop

To qualify for the airdrop, participants need to hold a minimum of 50 LSK in a self-managed wallet by May 21, 2024 (block height 24,823,618). LSK held in exchange or foundation addresses will not be eligible.

The airdrop will progressively reward users based on the amount of LSK they hold, prioritizing active community members over passive holders. Lisk has partnered with an airdrop management platform to facilitate this event, with more details to be announced soon.

Key Actions for Maximum Airdrop Receipt

Participants must perform several actions to receive the full airdrop benefits, designed to familiarize them with the new L2 functionalities and ensure smooth platform governance:

  • Claiming the new ERC-20 LSK tokens: Users must use the Claim feature on the Lisk portal to obtain LSK tokens on "Lisk L2." This step is crucial as the airdrop is linked to the new ERC-20 version LSK tokens.
  • Staking LSK on Lisk L2: LSK holders can earn yields through the upcoming Lisk L2 staking program. The amount of LSK received from the airdrop will depend on the quantity and duration of LSK staked. A minimum of one month of staking is required for eligibility.
  • Delegating voting rights in Lisk DAO: To build a robust governance system, users must delegate their voting rights within the Lisk DAO. Participants can delegate to others or themselves if they wish to engage directly in Lisk's governance.
  • Receiving the Airdrop: After completing all required actions, users can receive their airdrop via the Lisk portal. The interface will guide users through each step and constantly display the amount of airdrop they can claim.

Future Plans: DevDrop and UserDrop

The announced "HodlerDrop" is the first in a series of phased airdrop events.

Several airdrops are planned for the coming months, including a "DevDrop" for Lisk developers and a "UserDrop" for active users.

The DevDrop is designed to attract developers, while the UserDrop is designed to increase active users.

The total amount of LSK distributed in a series of airdrop events is 15 million LSK, and since 3 million LSK will be distributed in the HodlerDrop, it is expected that the remaining 12 million LSK in airdrop events will be announced in the future.
