On May 24, 2024, at 7:50 AM, the world bid farewell to Kabosu, the Shiba Inu famously known as the face of Dogecoin (DOGE).

Kabosu, who resided in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture, was not just any Shiba Inu but was hailed as the "world's most famous" dog. She became an internet sensation through the "Doge" meme and served as the beloved icon for the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, adored by people worldwide.

Despite battling illness, Kabosu celebrated her estimated 18th birthday on November 2, 2023. This morning, at 7:50 AM, she passed away peacefully, with her owner, Atsuko Sato, by her side, gently petting her as she drifted into eternal sleep.

Global Outpouring of Love and Messages

Kabosu was cherished by countless fans globally, and her birthday, November 2, was celebrated as "Doge Day" worldwide.

The news of her passing has garnered numerous heartfelt messages from notable figures in the cryptocurrency industry. Among them, Etheeum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expressed his condolences, saying, "Rest in peace."

In Kabosu's honor, monuments and manhole covers featuring her image have been installed in her favorite walking area, "Sakura Furusato Square" in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture.

According to Atsuko Sato's official blog, a farewell gathering for Kabosu will be held on May 26, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the flower shop "Flower Kaori" in Kozunomori, Narita City, Chiba Prefecture.
