Mexican Billionaire Talks About BTC Investment

Ricardo Salinas Pliego, the founder of the Mexican conglomerate Grupo Salinas, which holds television, internet, and financial businesses, has revealed that he is investing in Bitcoin, MicroStrategy, and BTC mining companies.

Although it was already known that he has been investing in Bitcoin, a YouTube interview with Natalie Brunell published on September 7, 2023, dives into various aspects of his investment portfolio.

Early-stage BTC Buying, Selling, and Reinvestment

In the interview, it is revealed that Ricardo Salinas Pliego initially bought Bitcoin when its price was around $200.

Although this seems very cheap when considering its current price, he sold off his BTC holdings when the price reached $800, judging it as "too expensive."

However, he later reinvested in Bitcoin. He held onto his purchased BTC until its peak in 2017 and reportedly sold it for around $17,000.

He described this particular investment as one of the best trades he has ever made.

The details of Ricardo Salinas Pliego's portfolio were discussed towards the end of the video. Specifically, his investments include:

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • MicroStrategy
  • 4-5 mining companies
  • Oil companies
  • Gold mining companies

While the actual names of the companies he has invested in are not disclosed, he reportedly stated last April that "my fluid portfolio consists of 60% in Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related stocks and 40% in stocks related to oil, gas, and gold."

Additionally, it has recently been revealed that BlackRock, known as the world's largest asset management company, has also invested in four major Bitcoin mining companies.
