MetaMask has introduced a “Pooled Staking” feature, enabling users to stake small amounts of Ethereum (ETH) and earn rewards.
Previously, staking was available only to those holding 32 ETH or more. Now, with no minimum staking amount, even users with limited ETH can participate.
This new feature, accessible through “MetaMask Portfolio,” promises to enhance Ethereum’s decentralization and security.
MetaMask Launches “Pooled Staking”
On June 12, 2024, ConsenSys announced the addition of a “Pooled Staking” feature to its cryptocurrency wallet, MetaMask, enabling users to stake small amounts of Ethereum (ETH).
MetaMask is a cryptocurrency wallet that manages digital assets across various blockchains and offers the portfolio management tool “MetaMask Portfolio” for buying, exchanging, and staking cryptocurrencies.
Previously, MetaMask allowed only users holding 32 ETH or more to stake with validators operated by ConsenSys. However, with pooled staking, even those with smaller amounts of ETH can participate.
Pooled staking is accessible through “MetaMask Portfolio” and will initially be available to a select group of users, expanding to more users over the coming days (excluding the US and UK).
Staking Ethereum with Small Holdings
MetaMask’s pooled staking does not require a minimum staking amount, allowing users to start staking with any small amount of ETH.
While users can unstake their ETH at any time, there is a certain waiting period for unstaking, which varies depending on the validator’s exit queue.
The newly introduced “Pooled Staking” offers several notable features:
【Earning ETH Staking Rewards】
Users can earn staking rewards by staking Ethereum.
【No Minimum Amount】
There is no minimum staking amount rule, allowing users to stake any amount of ETH.
【Unstake Anytime】
ETH can be unstaked at any time, though the time required depends on the validator’s exit queue.
【Easy Tracking】
ETH balance and rewards can be easily monitored within “MetaMask Portfolio.”
According to the official announcement from ConsenSys, 99% of ETH holders own less than 32 ETH, and 74% of ETH remains unstaked.
With the launch of MetaMask’s pooled staking feature, small ETH holders can now participate in staking, contributing to the decentralization and security enhancement of Ethereum.
