Paying for Meals with Cryptocurrency
On June 13, 2024, "Devour," a platform utilizing Web3 technology for food ordering, announced the integration of "Coinbase Commerce" into its "DevourGO" service. This new feature allows users to make payments with cryptocurrency for their meals.
Coinbase Commerce, offered by the major U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, facilitates the acceptance of cryptocurrency payments. Notably, U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump has also used this service to accept cryptocurrency donations.
With the integration of Coinbase Commerce into DevourGO, users can now pay for meals from various restaurants using their Coinbase account or wallet.
The process for making a cryptocurrency payment when using food delivery through DevourGO is outlined as follows:
- Order food through DevourGO.
- Select "Pay with Coinbase" at checkout.
- Approve the transaction using your Coinbase account or wallet.
- Once the transaction is approved, DevourGO processes the order and the restaurant receives the payment.
Supported Cryptocurrencies Including SHIB and BONK
While the specific cryptocurrencies available for use on DevourGO have not been fully disclosed, Devour's official X account (formerly known as Twitter) has confirmed that cryptocurrencies like Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Bonk (BONK) can be used for payments.
