Among the recipients is a notable collaboration aiming to make World ID available on Solana, which could significantly expand its utility by allowing various Solana-based services to verify human identity.

Announcement of Phase 1 Grant Recipients

On June 27, 2024, Worldcoin (WLD) announced the recipients of the first phase of its community grant program, detailing the initiatives of each selected project.

The following 16 companies were chosen as grant recipients, including “BBB & Company,” which runs “CryptoBar P2P,” a community space for cryptocurrency enthusiasts in Tokyo:

World ID Now Available on Solana?

Particularly noteworthy is the collaboration with “Wormhole,” a company that provides bridges for various blockchains.

The Wormhole team is working to enable World ID verification on the Solana blockchain.

World ID is a digital ID issued only to users who have undergone biometric verification using the iris-scanning device “Orb” developed by Worldcoin, to confirm their humanity.

If World ID becomes available on Solana (SOL), various Solana-based services will be able to use tools to prove human identity, helping to eliminate bots and expanding the use of World ID.

Axiom

Axiom is developing a prototype application for a universal Groth16 verification circuit to batch verify proofs for World ID.

One of the main costs of Worldcoin’s on-chain infrastructure is verifying Semaphore inclusion proofs within World ID, and proof aggregation is a key tool to distribute verification costs.

Proof of Passport

Proof of Passport aims to create a reliable framework for electronic passport verification used in Worldcoin ecosystem applications.

They are collaborating with the Worldcoin team to explore how on-chain verifiable IDs can be implemented.

Farcaster Humaniser

Farcaster Humaniser is an application built on Farcaster, providing a verification layer for account humanization.

Applications adopting Farcaster Humaniser can ensure their users are human, creating bot-free social spaces.

Alphaday

Alphaday offers a highly customizable dashboard and seamless interface to navigate the world of Web3, including DeFi, NFTs, and cryptocurrencies.

Their mission is to provide users with all the necessary tools to follow their favorite projects and use their preferred dApps from an easy-to-use, customizable dashboard.

Alphaday is working on the “Worldcoin Ecosystem Dashboard,” aggregating all relevant information into a single community dashboard.

Only Dust

OnlyDust is a platform that engages developers in the blockchain ecosystem through open-source contributions.

They are partnering with Worldcoin to connect new developers with active Worldcoin projects, starting with the integration of World ID bridges to prove humanity in major Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible ecosystems.

Encode Club

Encode Club is a global community of top developers, experts, and talented students in emerging technologies. They support career advancement and transformative work through major educational programs like hackathons, bootcamps, and accelerators.

Encode Club is collaborating with Worldcoin’s core contributors to create an “8-week Worldcoin Educational Series,” educating thousands globally through live workshops and YouTube content.

Wormhole

Wormhole is an interoperability platform supporting large-scale multi-chain applications and bridges.

The team is working on enabling World ID verification on Solana. Introducing World ID to Solana equips the ecosystem with a vital tool to prove human identity.

zkSnap

zkSnap protocol revolutionizes governance systems by providing a secure, private, and scalable voting system. By ensuring privacy while preventing collusion, it enables democratic decision-making and promotes user participation.

The zkSnap team is working closely with Worldcoin contributors to further develop the protocol and explore its use cases within the Worldcoin ecosystem.

TACEO

The TACEO team made significant advances in multi-party computation (MPC) during the Community Grant Program Phase 0, enabling the secure removal of Worldcoin’s previous iris code system.

They continue to work on the latest SMPC technology to elevate the privacy protection of World ID-verified users to unprecedented levels.

Cometh

Cometh is creating a mobile-native library to integrate Passkeys, ERC-4337, and Safe smart accounts into World Chain wallets (e.g., World App). This library will function on both iOS and Android platforms.

Herodotus

The Herodotus team developed a powerful data access middleware that enables smart contracts to synchronously access both current and historical on-chain data on the Ethereum layer. This allows for various on-chain applications using storage proofs.

They are working closely with Worldcoin contributors to provide trustless cross-chain and historical data access to World Chain, enabling numerous applications.

World Poll

World Poll is a one-step secure, incentivized global polling platform using World ID to facilitate reliable, real-time feedback and engagement with communities worldwide.

Agora is conducting research and workshops over the coming months in close collaboration with Worldcoin Foundation contributors to propose a detailed governance framework and roadmap towards Worldcoin’s decentralization.

The Fuzzing Labs team is working with Worldcoin contributors to enhance the OP-TEE security of Worldcoin’s iris-scanning device “Orb,” ensuring the protection of users’ biometric data and transaction processes.

Satori

Satori is working on batch verification of World ID proofs. By creating a fast, scalable, and cost-effective proof aggregation method, they aim to reduce costs, improve user experience, and scale the network by several orders of magnitude without a single point of failure.

BBB & Company

BBB is one of the Orb operators, providing the community space “CryptoBar P2P” in Tokyo for cryptocurrency and technology enthusiasts.

They aim to promote World ID and Worldcoin adoption by showcasing practical use cases of World ID through informal Worldcoin meetups across Japan.
