Key Features of World Chain
Worldcoin (WLD) released a developer preview of its unique Layer 2 solution, “World Chain,” on July 9, 2024.
World Chain is an Ethereum-based Layer 2 solution announced in April this year, designed to provide a faster, cheaper, and more reliable transaction environment as the number of Worldcoin users increases.
World Chain allows users to pay fees using the cryptocurrency WLD. Additionally, users who have obtained a World ID through biometric authentication can execute transactions with priority and receive gas fee allowances for casual transactions.
This makes World Chain an attractive option for Worldcoin users.
Originally scheduled for a summer 2024 release, the developer preview allows some developers to test and build applications on World Chain before the mainnet launch.
The developer preview is available to a select group of developers, who can apply for access on this page.
The developer preview enables developers to start building on World Chain, conducting research, constructing, testing, and providing feedback before the mainnet launch.
With the release of the developer preview, the scope of Worldcoin and World ID applications is expected to expand further, accelerating service development using World Chain.
