Important: Flint Wallet for Cardano to be Discontinued - Users Urged to Save Recovery Phrases

As Flint Wallet, a popular Cardano wallet, announces its discontinuation, users must take action to secure their assets.

Learn how to safely transfer your funds using your recovery phrase before the service ends.

Discontinuation of Flint Wallet for Enhanced Wallet Experience

On August 27, 2024, Flint Wallet, a lightweight wallet for Cardano (ADA), announced its upcoming discontinuation.

Developed by dcSpark, Flint Wallet was first released in January 2022 and has since been used to store and manage various Cardano-related cryptocurrencies.

The decision to discontinue Flint Wallet was made considering the increasing availability of other wallets with similar functionalities.

The official statement noted that continuing to compete with other Cardano wallets was no longer meaningful, leading to the decision to end the service.

Despite having unique features not available in other wallets, such as mobile compatibility, Flint Wallet will be discontinued following the planned Conway hard fork, as other mobile wallets now offer sufficient functionality.

Recovery Process for Users with Recovery Phrases

As Flint Wallet will no longer be available, users managing their Cardano assets with Flint Wallet need to transfer their assets to another wallet using their recovery phrases.

The official announcement reassures users that recovery phrases generated by Flint Wallet can be used with any other Cardano wallet.

Since a wallet is a tool that accesses data recorded on the blockchain and displays assets, the assets themselves are not stored within the wallet.

Therefore, as long as users have their recovery phrases or private keys, they can access their assets through another wallet application.

To view the recovery phrase within the Flint Wallet app, users can navigate to the "Settings" tab at the bottom right of the screen and enter their password on the "Recovery Phrase" page. It is crucial for users managing assets through Flint Wallet to save this recovery phrase.

Note: If a third party obtains your recovery phrase, they could potentially steal all the cryptocurrency stored in your wallet. When recording your recovery phrase, ensure it remains confidential and is stored securely.

If you wish to restore your wallet in a different application, input the recovery phrase saved using the method above into the new wallet. (Please be cautious of fraudulent apps.)
