Circle Partners with Grab to Integrate Web3 Wallet Features

Circle's Collaboration with Southeast Asia's Grab

Circle, the issuer of the U.S. Dollar stablecoin USDC, announced a partnership with Grab, a ride-hailing app in Southeast Asia, on September 13th.

As a result of this collaboration, a trial implementation of Circle's web3 service platform has been introduced into the Grab app.

Thanks to this trial, users in Singapore can now configure a blockchain-compatible wallet, dubbed the "Grab Web3 Wallet," within the app. Through this wallet, users can earn rewards and collectibles, and even use NFTs as vouchers.

The "Grab Web3 Wallet" will be functional from the 15th to the 17th of this month, coinciding with the F1 Singapore Grand Prix. Users can utilize the wallet at popular shops in Singapore during this period.

Bridging the Gap between Web2 and Web3

Circle’s web3 service platform, marketed as "Circle Web3 Services," aims to assist both web2 internet companies and web3 startups in the adoption of stablecoins, digital assets, and smart contracts.

Part of Project Guardian, an MAS Initiative

This initiative between Circle and Grab is being carried out as part of Singapore’s Monetary Authority (MAS) public-private partnership initiative, known as "Project Guardian."

This project, which MAS has been promoting since last May, aims to enhance efficiency and liquidity in the wholesale fundraising markets.

It examines the possibilities of trading tokenized bonds and deposits among institutional investors.
