Kabosu Mama, Atsuko Sato, the owner of the famous Shiba Inu "Kabosu-chan" known for being the face of the Dogecoin (DOGE) logo, has recently fallen victim to an Instagram account hack. The hacked account was misused to promote fraudulent meme coins.
According to Atsuko Sato, her Instagram account (kabosumama) had been under attack with several unauthorized login attempts. Despite having two-factor authentication enabled, the account was eventually compromised.
After the hack, a post appeared on Kabosu Mama's account stating that "$KAI has joined the family." The post falsely claimed that all donations would go to an animal shelter, alongside a wallet address, "6cNbm77irfAYsGh9CQg5oQU4wnocxPAMNEJG1ZWWpump" (which has since been deleted).
Atsuko Sato warned her followers, urging them to ignore or block any suspicious direct messages (DMs) that might seem to come from her. She also shared screenshots of the fraudulent messages within her blog post.
In the cryptocurrency world, hacking verified social media accounts of celebrities to promote scam coins or fraudulent websites is a common practice. It's crucial to stay vigilant against such attacks, especially as the market for cryptocurrencies grows.
These scams tend to spike when cryptocurrency prices rise, and other high-profile accounts may face similar attacks in the future.
Always question the legitimacy of any website or wallet connection and refrain from sending or purchasing cryptocurrencies until you have confirmed the source's authenticity.
