Mojang's Demand Leads to Removal of Bitcoin Functionality
On September 25, 2023, the Minecraft server known as "Satlantis," which allowed players to earn Bitcoin (BTC), announced the removal of all Bitcoin-related features.
This decision came after a directive from Mojang, the company behind the development of Minecraft.
Satlantis had incorporated BTC reward functionalities within its custom Minecraft server. Players could purchase in-game items with BTC, trade with other players, and even withdraw their earnings to a ZBD wallet.
The decision to remove Bitcoin features was mandated by Mojang, who asserted that failure to comply would result in the blocking of the server's IP address. Consequently, the Satlantis team had no choice but to disable the BTC functionalities.
Users Advised to Withdraw Bitcoin
According to a post on the official Satlantis Discord channel dated September 25, 2023, all Bitcoin-related features will be removed from the server by September 26, 2023.
Even after this removal, users will still be able to store their BTC balance and withdraw it outside of the game.
Users are encouraged to withdraw any BTC they have earned in-game as soon as possible to avoid potential complications.
Future Plans for Satlantis Team
While details are still pending, the team behind Satlantis is planning to revive their Bitcoin-related game concepts in another platform or game.
This move aligns with Mojang's policy revealed in July 2022, stating that Minecraft has no intentions of integrating NFTs or blockchain technologies and will not permit the support of NFTs within its ecosystem.
