Transferring Approximately 3,000 BTC After Six Years

A mysterious Bitcoin (BTC) whale, who had been holding Bitcoin since around 2016, has recently resumed activity and transferred approximately $8.2 million worth of Bitcoin to another wallet.

This surprising move comes after nearly six years of inactivity.

Back in May 2016, when the Bitcoin price was hovering around $335, this whale acquired about 3,301 BTC.

The last external transfer made by this wallet was in September 2017, where it sent approximately 205 BTC and had since gone dormant.

However, on October 9, 2023, an external transfer was made after nearly six years, moving nearly all stored Bitcoin, amounting to 2,995.117763 BTC, to another wallet.

Speculations and Recent Trends

The Bitcoin transferred this time has been sent to two different addresses, divided into "2,495 BTC" and "500 BTC."

While the wallet that received 2,495 BTC still holds those coins, the wallet that received 500 BTC made another transfer on October 5, sending the 500 BTC to yet another wallet.

The purpose of this sizable transfer remains unknown. However, reports on movements from whales who had been dormant for several years have been increasing.

This series of activities is drawing attention, especially when considered along with other recent reports.

Last month, it was reported that the BTC holdings of sharks and whales reached their peak for 2023, prompting some to view this as a sign of an incoming bullish market.
