Uniswap Introduces "Interface Fees" for Token Swaps: Impact on ETH and Other Cryptocurrencies

Uniswap Labs Announces 0.15% Interface Fee

On October 17, 2023, Uniswap Labs, the development team behind the decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap, announced the introduction of a 0.15% "interface fee" for certain tokens on their web app and wallet.

This fee is distinct from the protocol fees managed by UNI token governance, and is levied exclusively on swaps carried out through Uniswap Labs' frontend.

The fee serves as a sustainable source of revenue for Uniswap's operations.

Hayden Adams, the founder of Uniswap, explains that "the interface fee is at an industry-low level, allowing us to continue our work in the research, development, building, shipping, improving, and scaling of cryptocurrencies and DeFi."

Details on the Newly Introduced Interface Fee

The interface fee will apply to swaps involving the following cryptocurrencies:

• ETH
• USDC
• USDT
• DAI
• WBTC
• WETH
• GUSD
• LUSD
• EUROC
• XSGD
• agEUR

It's worth noting that the interface fee will not be applied to "stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps" or "ETH/WETH swaps." Additionally, the fee will be paid in the target token of the swap.

When executing swaps involving the above-listed currencies on Uniswap's web or wallet app, users can confirm the interface fee amount under the "Fee (0.15%)" section in the exchange details.

Uniswap has been continuously expanding its offerings. In September of this year, it launched an educational platform called "Uniswap University," and recently released its Android wallet app as well.
