Recent reports from Decrypt have clarified that the globally popular gaming platform Roblox has not integrated support for payments using the cryptocurrency XRP, countering previous claims.
The news, initially reported on October 17, 2023, claimed that Roblox had begun accepting XRP as a payment method.
This came on the heels of cryptocurrency payment service BitPay announcing its partnership with Xsolla, thereby enabling XRP payments in games like Roblox.
Although BitPay later deleted the relevant tweet, the story had already been widely circulated in the crypto industry, receiving coverage from multiple major media outlets.
Roblox's Official Statement on XRP Payment Integration
Decrypt's coverage reveals that Roblox has officially denied supporting payments via XRP. According to Roblox, "The report claiming that in-game currency 'Robux' can be purchased with XRP is inaccurate."
Specifically, all reports suggesting "Roblox has partnered with BitPay to support XRP payments" or "Roblox now supports BTC and XRP for payments" are incorrect. BitPay's tweet was removed due to its inaccurate information.
Payment options for purchasing Robux in the U.S. include "Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Gift Cards, PayPal, Venmo, Klarna, CVS Pharmacy, and Paysafecard," according to reports. Notably, cryptocurrency payment options are not included.
