On August 2, 2024, NuFi Web3 Wallet, which provides self-custody wallets supporting multiple blockchains, announced the release of "Cardano Wallet Snap," an open-source extension that adds compatibility with Cardano (ADA) to MetaMask.

This functionality enables MetaMask users to connect to Cardano-based decentralized applications (DApps) without additional downloads or settings.
Developed with funds raised through Cardano's grant program "Catalyst," Cardano Wallet Snap aims to make Cardano accessible to millions of users.
MetaMask’s "Snaps" are services that add new features to the MetaMask wallet, allowing third-party companies to create and offer their own extensions to users.
Available with MetaMask Version 12.0.0
Cardano Wallet Snap becomes usable by manually updating MetaMask to "v12.0.0" through the browser extension management features. From August 12, 2024, MetaMask will automatically update to "v12.0.0," enabling connections to any Cardano DApps.
To manually update MetaMask to "v12.0.0," follow these steps:
- Right-click on the MetaMask icon in the browser extension
- Click on the "Manage Extensions" button
- Verify the current version on the displayed screen
- If an update is needed, click the "Update" button at the top of the screen
- Wait for the latest version to install
After these steps, developers can access "https://staging.vyfi.io/" to test the service, although some errors may occur.
