ethOS: Ethereum OS-Equipped Smartphone to Launch in Fall 2023

In the rapidly evolving world of blockchain and cryptocurrency, the ethOS, an Ethereum-based mobile OS, is set to revolutionize the smartphone industry.

With its imminent release in the fall of 2023, let's delve into what makes this OS stand out and the buzz surrounding its launch.

Ethereum's Mobile OS Smartphone Emerges

The ethOS, a project dedicated to developing Ethereum's mobile OS, announced on August 25, 2023, that smartphones equipped with ethOS will be available for general sale in the fall of 2023.

This open-source Ethereum mobile OS project offers a mobile OS loaded with Web3-related features and can be installed on multiple devices.

Earlier this month, on the 23rd, the project had announced the commencement of pre-orders for the first smartphone equipped with ethOS.

By the 25th, they reported that all reservation NFTs had been issued and also confirmed that the general sale is slated for the fall of 2023.

What is ethOS?

ethOS functions as a foundational mobile OS for smartphones, similar to iOS and Android. However, it stands out as a Web3-friendly mobile OS equipped with features related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

This OS boasts unique features not found in conventional mobile OSs, such as a cryptocurrency wallet, decentralized browsing, XMTP/SMS chat, NFT minting, and light node operations.

These features make it particularly appealing to cryptocurrency users.

While ethOS can be installed on various devices, the initial release features the "Pixel 7a" with ethOS pre-installed. This smartphone can be reserved by purchasing a reservation NFT priced at 0.39 ETH, though the first batch of these NFTs has already sold out.

Furthermore, a post from August 23, 2023, reported that, currently, the only region available for shipping is the United States.

Beware of Fake NFTs

While more ethOS-equipped smartphones are planned for future releases, a post from August 25, 2023, warned of "fake NFTs" circulating on "OpenSea".

Thus, potential buyers should exercise caution against such counterfeit NFTs.

Recently, there's been a surge in smartphones equipped with cryptocurrency-related features.

For instance, in April of this year, the Web3 smartphone "Saga", which includes features like the Solana (Solana/SOL) DApps store, was released.
