Google Cloud Joins as Validator in Polygon PoS Network: A Milestone in Network Operation

Learn how Google Cloud's recent entry as a validator in Polygon's PoS network could be a game-changer.

With over 100 validators and an opportunity to earn staking rewards, find out what this means for the future of blockchain networks and how you can get involved.

Google Cloud Enters Polygon PoS as a Validator

On September 29, 2023, Polygon Labs, the team leading the development of Polygon (MATIC), announced that Google Cloud has joined as a validator in the Polygon PoS (Proof of Stake) network.

In Polygon's network, the Proof of Stake mechanism is employed for transaction approval and consensus, and the network is sustained by multiple contributors known as validators.

In this recent announcement, it has been reported that Google Cloud has joined as a validator in the Polygon PoS system, with the added note that "Polygon's PoS network is guarded by more than 100 validators."

Over 10,000 MATIC Already Staked on Google Cloud

People who hold Polygon’s cryptocurrency, MATIC, can participate in the network operation process by delegating their holdings to validators, thereby earning staking rewards.

Now, delegation to Google Cloud is also possible. According to data displayed on the "Polygon Staking" website, Google Cloud's validator node already has "10,451.12 MATIC" staked.

Validators are crucial for maintaining the stable operation of blockchain networks. Therefore, the participation of a major company like Google Cloud as a validator is exceptionally good news for the Polygon community.

In addition, it has been reported that Google Cloud Singapore has also commented on this participation.

Google Cloud and Polygon Labs' Long-term Strategic Alliance

Google Cloud and Polygon Labs had announced a long-term strategic partnership in April this year. The alliance focuses on providing infrastructure and development tools to support Polygon’s growth.

Recent announcements related to Polygon also include proposals such as "Upgrading the MATIC cryptocurrency to POL."
